This is my first, and hopefully not last, tattoo! It’s on my right foot.
I got this tattoo in honor of my Aunt Theresa, who passed away in November 2011 at the age of 86. She was my great aunt and basically acted as my grandmother my whole life since my mother’s parents both died before I was born. She was the most loving and hardworking person I have ever met. She was so devoted to every single member of our family. She was extremely selfless and generous; always thinking of others before herself. She is the most amazing woman I think I will ever know. I could tell you stories for hours!
I wasn’t sure what I wanted as a tattoo to honor her. I knew I wanted it to involve her initials (TF, although her name was technically Mary, she went by Theresa, her middle name) and also daisies, because that was her nickname. (Her sister, my other great aunt, always called her Daise.) I Googled a LOT of different designs with daisies, and nothing really spoke to me, and then I found an infinity symbol design that is pretty similar to the one that I actually got. I brought it in to the artist and told him the little differences I wanted (the addition of her initials and also the daisies) and he drew up the exact design that is on my foot!! I love the infinity symbol. It represents her never ending love for her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and it also represents that we will never ever forget her. Her death changed my family forever.
I got my tattoo done at a place in Pittsburgh called “In The Blood”, and my tattoo artist was Justun. (Yes, spelled like that.) He was absolutely WONDERFUL. If anyone is from the Pittsburgh area, I highly suggest you go to him. I was obviously freaking out since it was my first tattoo, and it was on my FOOT of all places, but he (and my best friend who was with me and got a tattoo as well) kept me at ease with wonderful humor and extreme precision and speed!! It honestly felt like it only took 2 minutes.
